Introduction

Welcome UB students,
We are 9 freshman UB students enrolled in ENG 105 who want to share their stories and interesting things we want you to know. This zine will open your eyes to new subjects that are extremely interesting. These topics will inspire, educate, argue, inform and/or reinforce your set of beliefs and possibly make new ones.
This issue features Tim McMahon who wrote about finding his passion and being able to transition it to something he could continue doing in college. Brooke Pieters shares the truth behind horse racing and why it needs to stop. Saikiran Popuri expresses the negative impacts towards a student’s academic performance, safety, and mental health due to early college classes. Calvin Huang informs us about CRISPR and how its beneficial to humanity. Trevor Allen shows the effects of smartphone addiction and what to do to decrease smartphone addiction. Yiyu Zhang shares the negative effects of gaming addiction. Brooklynne Stokes educates us about artificial intelligence. Lucy Liu shares the negative effects of having too much homework. And finally Patrick Delgobbo informs us about technology versus identity.
As you can see, we have amazing topics that could change the way you think about our everyday environment. We are here to teach you the negative and positive effects of new technology, animal abuse, and education. We hope you enjoy the Zine and come back for more!
